駅の電気、パソコンで無断拝借…会社員を書類送検へ(yahoo.co.jp)。
ＪＲ名古屋駅構内のコンセントを無断使用したとして、愛知県警が、神奈川県在住の男性会社員（２５）を窃盗容疑で事情聴取していたことが１７日分かった。電気代は１円程度というが、県警は「電気の無断使用は立派な窃盗罪」として、近く男性を窃盗の疑いで書類送検する。
ひどい世の中もあったものだ。かわいそうに。電車代なんて電気代込みにしろ。 しかもノートPCを5分でしょ？ 電気代は１円程度ってことだけど、絶対に1円しない。1kWhが20円として、ノートPCのACアダプタの出力が50W(参考：IBMのThinkPad用のは56W)が5分ってことは約4Wh。これのどこが1円になるというのだ。計算によれば0.08円、8銭にしかならない。どこを四捨五入しても1円程度なんかになるもんか。 真っ赤なウソばっかりつきやがって！＞警察 この会社員は礼を失していたとは思うけど、窃盗で書類送検するほどとは思えないな。鉄道会社はフリーに使えるコンセントをたくさん設置してほしいと思う。電話とか充電したい人は多いんじゃないかな。
超伝導ＭＰＵ開発 高速・低消費電力スパコンも可能に(asahi.com)。
名古屋大と横浜国立大は１６日、超伝導の性質を使った特殊な電子回路で、コンピューターの心臓部にあたるマイクロプロセッサーを開発することに世界で初めて成功したと発表した。従来の半導体回路に比べ１０倍以上高速で、１０００分の１以下の消費電力のスーパーコンピューターなどを可能にする技術だとしている。
10倍以上高速はいいとしても、消費電力が1/1000以下か。偉いな…っつーか液体ヘリウム（零下２６９度）で冷やすと超伝導になるニオブ金属で、超伝導状態で動いたわけだから、動かすには今のところ液体ヘリウムが必要なのか。 ぐぐってみたら、一般的には液体ヘリウムは液体窒素の10倍以上の価格らしいよ。SQUID-FAQ(shs.co.jp)のQ5より。 やはり時代は室温超伝導(wikipedia.org)を求めているのかな。

MainsoftにはWindowsのソースコードの閲覧と配布が認められていた。 Mainsoftの技術は、MicrosoftのInternet Explorer（IE）、Outlook、Media PlayerをSun MicrosystemsとHewlett-Packard（HP）版のUNIXに移植するために使われている。
なるほど。以前にSun Solaris用IEというのを見たことがあるけど、ああいう出来(非常に…ひどかった)に仕上げてくるなら、いらない。でもMSともあろう賢者が本気で使いやすく作ってくるとは思えん。自社の利益にならないじゃん。やはりヒドい出来で出してきて原因をプラットフォームのせいにしてネガティブキャンペーン的に使うのが正しいよ。 IEに関しては単にWebベースでさ、IEとMozillaとその他のレンダリングエンジンを使って指定されたページをPNG画像かなんかに変換してくれるサイトとかがあればそれでいいんじゃないかな。Webデザインが表示の確認に使うのね。すでにどっかにありそうだが。Office関係も。 MS製品に関してはすでに代替がないという認識が世界中にあるから独占されて我々が搾取を受けているわけで、搾取を避けるためにはみんなMS製品を使わないコンピューティング環境に移行するしかないので…という話はどうでもいいか。 で、記事中で最初はvi.recoverなのかと思ってたんだけど、core(いわゆるゲロ。食事中の方、すみませんっ！)みたいだ。 しかしこの人、coreちゃんと出してるんだな。私は開発中ですらcoreは出さない。いろいろ経緯はあるんだけど、省略。昔はちゃんと使ってたけど、常に出しとくほどのものじゃないよね、という考えに変わった。
今日何も考えずにWindows Updateを実行したユーザは星の数ほどいると思うけど、MSがCritical Update(重要な更新)としてBookshelf Symbol 7フォントから削除した文字は以下の3つ。ユダヤの星(六芒星って言うのかな？)、逆卍、逆ナナメ卍(ナチス関係)。
下図で赤丸で囲っておいた。Linux上で、ftview(freetypeについてくるコマンド)で表示してます。上が置き換え後のフォント、下がオリジナル。
しかしWindowsについてくるフォントに鳥居のマークがあるとは思わなかったな。王莽の莽の大が犬になったやつとか、善だの悪だのとか、いろいろあるねぇ。
ポルノ系「Whitehouse.com」、実子思い売却へ(cnn.co.jp)。
米ホワイトハウスの「Whitehouse.gov」に酷似したドメイン「Whitehouse.com」を所有して、１９９７年からポルノ・サイトを運営するダニエル・パリシ氏（４４）がこのほど、このドメイン名の売却を決めた。まもなく幼稚園へ上がる自身の息子が、友達から父親の職業を教えられてしまうのを恐れたためとしている。
なるほど。友達から教えられるというのはどういうことか。whitehouse.comでwhoisを引くとたしかにDan Parisiさんの名前が出てくる、というわけだ。なんだおまえのオヤジじゃんか、ってなもんだ。 ついでだから張っておこうっと。whoisも罪つくりよのお。

browser.tabs.autoHideをtrueにしても起動し直すとfalseになってしまう。prefs.jsには保存されているが起動するとファイルからも、設定自体も消える。user.jsに書いても設定が消える(ファイルはさすがに消えない)。 この設定はタブが1つしかないときにタブバーを表示しないというもので、私はこれを常用しているのでちょっとキツい。Linux版のもう片方の(GNOME2用っていえばいいのかな)を試したら大丈夫だったりして。でもあっちはフォントの設定とかちゃんとしてないからいまいちな状態なんだよな。 別の設定で逃げれるかどうかを調べてみる。 (追記) 2004-02-10 15:20 デフォルトでsleipnirと同じみたくするか？ みたいな選択にyesと答えたのが原因らしい。browser.tabs.extensions.default.overlayをsleipnirからデフォルトの空文字列に変更したら直った。 ソースが全てを救う。 (追記) 2004-02-10 15:29 ↑はTabbrowser Extensionをインストールするときの話です。一応、間違えないように。
MozillFirebirdだが、ブックマークをサイドバーに表示した状態で検索用のフォームがあるんだけど、ここはなんとリターンを打たずにインクリメンタル検索してくれる。「a」と打った一瞬後にすでに「a」で絞り込みが起こっている！ ヒストリのサイドバーも同じ。 はやく出ねーかな、0.8(mozilla.org)。今日って話だったけど、まだ空だ。 何度もリロードしないように。迷惑だから＞おれ (追記) 2004-02-09 20:48 やられた。名前がFirefox(mozilla.org)に変わってやがるよー。 いわゆる「狐火の勇五郎ブラウザ」になるんだな。なるほど。 (追記) 2004-02-09 21:40 インストールして設定していろいろプラグインを入れまくってみた。悪くないねー。前の設定が残っていると起動できないんだな。

個人で公開鍵暗号ツールを暗号化に使っている人がいるのか疑問です。 署名や、セッションの暗号化には有効ですが、個人のデータの暗号化に利用するには抵抗があります。 こういう時は、古典的なパスフレーズだけで守る対称鍵暗号系が良さそうです。
つまり、GnuPGで-cオプションを使うとパスフレーズだけで暗号化できるらしい。知らなかった自分がちょっと恥ずかしい。 (追記) 2004-02-07 18:55 自分のところで使えるのは「3DES, CAST5, BLOWFISH, AES, AES192, AES256, TWOFISH」で、ざっとスループットを計ってみると3DESが一番遅く、あとはだいたい同じくらいだった。デフォルトではCAST5だということなので、CAST5を使っていこうかなと思う。
